I grew up in Queens, NY
and went to Jamaica High
School. This is the same high
school and area of Queens
that spawned such groups
as the Cleftones, Deltairs,
Five Sharps, Heartbeats,
Rivileers, and the Videos.
I spent many great days as
a teenager attending Alan
Freed's Rock & Roll shows
at the Brooklyn Paramount
and listening to WINS 1010
New York.
I started my collection with records, then reel to reel tape, and now MP3 files.
I have about 20,000 songs and owe a debt of gratitude to Doo Wop Nan from New Jersey and Olaf from Germany in helping with this project.
After graduating from C.W. Post
College in Brookville, NY I went
into the Army and flew helicopters
for the next 20 years. I eventually
migrated to California where I live
with my lovely wife Kathy and
our dog Sunny. Kathy tolerates
Doo Wop (A San Francisco flower
child era gal) and Sunny sits at
my feet faithfully and listens to
my favorite songs.
